Sorry For The Sloppy Mess I Did Not Have Enough Room For A Picture Of Each Character. *~Sara Mudou~* |
![]() |
Sister of Setsuna Mudou, Sara fell in love with Setsuna as well. She lived with her mother, apart from Setsuna, and met up with him once a month, as they had agreed after the divorce between their parents. She's younger of the two children, and her mother is very protective of her. After seeing Sara kissed by Setsuna, their mother decided to move to England, back to her old home, and bring Sara with her. She had a marriage arranged for Sara, but as they were on their way to the airport, Setsuna caught up with them and told Sara that he loved her. The two then ran off together while Kira covered them. Sara was killed by Kirie, an angel who sought to end Setsuna's life because of Rociel's preoccupation with him. When time was frozen by Adam Kadamon, Sara was not revived because she had to die in order for Setsuna to live. She broke the curse Uriel had placed on Alexiel to die a terrible death in each of her incarnations, because she died in Setsuna's place. Her soul went to Hell, where Setsuna went to search for her. However, her soul wasn't in Hell when Setsuna arrived. It was actually back in its original place - the body of the Great Angel of water, Gabriel (or Jibrille). She has no recollection of her time as the Angel of Water, and is at first nearly blind when she arrives, where she sees a glimpse of Sevotharte's face. Her vision is completely gone for some time afterward, until she finally accepts that she is the Angel of Water (though she still refuses to admit it?) and helps Raphael revive Setsuna with her powers. Sara is put on trial when she returns to heaven after reviving Setsuna, and is charged with being in love with her own brother. Sevotharte plans to put her to death. |

Heaven *~*Alexiel*~* |

![]() |
The Organic Angel, the twin sister of Rociel. She is in love with God, though God favored Rociel. Upon God's disappearance, Alexiel rebelled against Heaven in order to join the Demons. In a battle with her brother, Rociel, rather than kill him, she sealed his body away into the earth. She was afterward captured by the angels and her body was imprisoned in crystal while her soul was to be constantly reincarnated into different bodies on earth. She was cursed by the Earth Elemental Angel, Uriel, to die horribly in each body. The curse was lifted when Sara jumped in front of Kirie's attack, Alexiel's body was released from it's crystal when Setsuna returned from Hell, following his body's death, and Setsuna's soul went into Alexiel's body. She is placed back in the crystal after Setsuna's body is revived, and it is revealed why she never killed Rociel and why she only sealed him away. He had asked her to kill him when his body started to deteriorate and when his mind followed the same path - he knew what his fate would be, and didn't want to fall victim to it. However, just as she was about to strike the killing blow, Rociel demanded why she would want to kill her own beloved brother, and so she lost the strength to do it. Instead, she sealed him away, and went through incarnation after incarnation until she realized that Setsuna was the one who was the "Messiah". She was doing her best to manipulate the strings that had long ago been set, and she tries to end God's curse that was placed upon both she and Rociel when they were born. She knew that until his life was ended, both of them, brother and sister, would continue to suffer. Alexiel and Rociel both knew that Metatron and Sandalphon would be a repeat of the mistake God made when they themselves were born. She is called a savior by many, but calls herself the "Angel of Death" for all that she has done. |
Rociel Inorganic Angel Rociel, the twin brother of Alexiel. Rociel earned God's love, whereas Alexiel did not, and for this Alexiel was jealous of him. Rociel's beauty was well known in heaven. Rociel did not have the power to stand up to his sister when she attacked him, and was sealed by her and nanatsusaya, into the earth. He was unsealed years later by Katan, as Katan used the soul energy of thousands of people in order to awaken him, through using a 'game' known as Angel Sanctuary, created by "Digital Angels" (supposedly, though it was Katan who actually created the game). Rociel was cold, and wants to hear his sister call him 'beautiful' and to love him. Katan wanted him to go up to heaven and to rule there, since Sevotharte was making Heaven chaotic, but instead Rociel wished to search for his sister, Alexiel, and to make her current incarnation (Setsuna) awaken and realize his power. Rociel realized that, when his body had been deteriorating for many years, that his mind wouldn't hold out much longer. He begged for Alexiel to kill him when it happened, so that he could not swallow up the world in his hunger for power. Alexiel found herself unable to kill him, and instead sealed him away in the earth, where Katan later found and revived him. |

Other Angels Katan: Rociel's "son", Katan was once a creature which was even lower than an Angel. However, Rociel appeared to him, gave him a tangible body...and gave Katan life as an Angel. Katan feels very strongly for Rociel, but doesn't believe in everything Rociel does. He hates how Rociel gains control of his people - by giving them pills which takes away their minds and individuality. Katan doesn't like unnecessary sacrifice, and while he is on Rociel's side, he seems opposed to many of the things that Rociel does. He tries to convince Kirie what she is doing is wrong (when she is on a mission to kill Sara/Setsuna) but fails. He finds Kirie later, after she kills Sara, and attempts to bring her away. However, Kirie doesn't move, and both of them are swallowed up by Setsuna's spell. Katan is forcibly given Rociel's pill, so he will live (one half of his body was ravaged by the spell), but refuses to take it in and rejects it. His body becomes mostly wires, and he devours all that Rociel sends into his room (except Rociel himself). Katan befriends one small Angel, Teitiel, and both of them swear to never kill Angels again. However, when Teitiel is killed, Katan attacks and rips apart all of the angels that killed her, and shortly afterward regains his body in order to be with Rociel again. Kirie: An understudy in Heaven, Kirie is in love with Rociel. She works for him on Assiah, and has orders to kill Sara Mudou. She does everything she does in order to be with Rociel in the future - she is used by him so he can achieve what he wants, which is for Setsuna to awaken as Alexiel. Kirie doesn't believe Katan's warnings, which are to go back to Heaven; Rociel doesn't really love her. She succeeds in killing Sara, but it doesn't seem as if she knows the whole story about Setsuna. When he gains his three wings and, in an uncontrollable fury, tears everything around him apart, Kirie is killed. Rasiel: Zaphkiel's understudy. He is very talented, and is Zaphkiel's weak point (which Sevotharte realizes). Rasiel can sense Sara, and that seems to be one of his special abilities. He fell in love for the first time with the Angel "Shatiel", one of those who wasn't considered a true angel because of the lack of one wing. She was killed because of Rasiel's naive actions, and after that Rasiel realized how much of a lie the society in which he lived was. He dedicated himself to Zaphkiel, and decided to help him as part of the rebel angels faction growing in Heaven. Rasiel was taken to Gehenna to help Setsuna from there. He is an "ion", an angel born from the union between the forbidden love of two angels. His power is that his attack power grows with the strength of his enemy. When he uses his powers, his eyes turn red - the color of Ions' eyes. He seems to be able to control others, even having one man against his will turn a gun against himself. Zaphkiel: A mysterious Angel with a scar across his neck, Zaphkiel takes care of Rasiel, and brought him in when he was at a young age, subject to experiments the other angels were doing. Zaphkiel is blind, blinded by the light of Adam Kadamon after the wound on his neck was healed. He was one of the Angels who worked to purge Heaven of the 'rabbits', the red-eyed children of the forbidden love between Angels. During this time, he fell in love with the Angel Anael and accidentally killed her. He was blamed for her death and told to commit suicide, but Adam Kadamon refused to let him die. In exchange for life, he lost his sight. Sevotharte branded him as a "Fallen Angel", to remind him of the debt he owns and should always keep. Zaphkiel is one of the few pure angels among the corruption, and he seeks to end it with the group he calls "Anima Mundi". He sacrificed himself to save Setsuna's as the Messiah was being rained upon by gunfire. He was brought to a prison in heaven and there it was decided that the "wing drop" would be performed on him. [for more information on the wing drop, see the world section] It was finished, and afterward Zaphkiel began to transform into a ghoul - he fed upon the bodies of the angels that had died [I'm a little confused here, so I have to read it again]. However, he wasn't completely gone, because Zaphkiel did in the end save Setsuna and Kira from getting themselves killed, by stabbing Sariel through his Evil Eye. Adam Kadamon: Not much is known about him...except that he is imprisoned in Heaven. He aids Setsuna in his quest, and can tamper with time - he freezes the material world in the moments before it was destroyed, in order to give Setsuna and the others time to save the world, and also sends Setsuna down into Hell to find Sara. He is the one who saved Zaphkiel's life when he tried to commit suicide by slitting his throat. Adam Kadamon controls the power of miracles, so in God's absense he has in a way become God. (sort of) He's imprisoned in one of the highest layers of heaven, and his whereabouts are unknown even to Sevotharte. Michael: One of the elemental angels, the angel of fire. Michael is very violent, and often acts like a fiery child. He attacks without warning and doesn't have much of a code in the way of honor. He is extremely temperamental and is the brother and almost exact opposite of Raphael. He doesn't care for girls very much and seems to go out of his way to make them miserable. Mika-chan (that's his nickname) doesn't like being called Mika-chan, and he doesn't much enjoy being made fun of, either. He has a lot of pride, especially in his demon hunting. Uriel: One of the elemental angels, the angel of earth. Uriel spends most of his time in Hell, with his creation, Doll. He has black wings, and left heaven for multiple reasons. Uriel is the one that placed the curse upon Alexiel. He wanted to be killed by Setsuna when he arrived in Hell, but instead Setsuna spared his life. Uriel aided Setsuna then, and wants Setsuna to get all the help he can. Uriel is also in love with Alexiel. Gabriel/Jibrille: The Angel of Water. She and Sara are actually the same - Sara was her human incarnation, sent there by Sevotharte as part of one of his mysterious schemes. She was often in Sevi's way, and so he got rid of her. When Sara comes back as Gabriel, she is blind, and she has a small hole in the back of her neck where the needle was, keeping her from moving. She was sent to Earth by Sevotharte, who wanted her out of the way, and she became Setsuna's Guardian Angel. She cared very much for the Grigore, and because she could do nothing else for them, she cried. She was the only angel who stood up against Sevi actively and was the only one who was outspoken about her feelings toward him. Raphael: The angel of wind, Raphael is a doctor who spends a lot more time doing other things to the woman he treats x.x rather than healing them. He is the best healer there is, but one might be hard pressed to convince him to properly heal a woman...or heal a man at all. He is the only healer that has the power to bring back the dead, and he revives Setsuna's body. Teitiel: A small Angel, she was hated by all of the other angels because, in order to survive, she resorted to eating dead angels. She befriends Katan, but is killed by Dubbiel's men when they see her with him. Rociel offers to give her the pill and revive her, but Katan tells her no, he doesn't want to see her being one of Rociel's creatures. Metatron: Soon to be the ruler of Heaven, but at the moment a bit too young. Metatron is annoying, annoying, annoying. He's whiny and selfish and spends much of his time surrounded by stuffed animals. Sevotharte is his guardian...of sorts. O.o He doesn't want to give up the throne of Heaven, and threatens to kill Metatron on numerous occasions. Sevotharte: Ruling heaven while Metatron is still young, Sevotharte doesn't seem to want Metatron to ever rule Heaven. He is very cold, and once fought in a war alongside Zaphkiel. Sevotharte will do anything he can in order to gain control over heaven and the angels. Because he is now ruling heaven, most of the angels fear coming into contact with him, and heaven is basically falling apart. He is the one that put Gabriel into her silent, unseeing state. He doesn't want anyone to see his face because of the mark that lies on it, and Sara tells him that if he does that, he can never be fully trusted. He is on the path to making a Heaven of perfection - by destroying angels that aren't 100% perfect. He wants to destroy humanity as well, and it seems that he is really Layla, a friend of Anael, a woman that Zaphkiel "corrupted" by sleeping with her. Lily: Once one of the Gregori, such as Katan was; she was given a body. However, unlike Katan, she was created merely to be a maid, and thus her mind was impaired, giving her the mental capacity of a young child. She loves Sara and follows her around everywhere, trusting her unconditionally. Sevotharte hates her; that's why she wears such a short skirt. Sandalphon: Metatron's brother. Very little is known about him thus far in the manga series; however, it is known that he has power, and he is top secret. |

*~*~^Kurai^~*~* Kurai is a tomboy demon princess of Gehenna. When she was much younger and was returning home after her exile, she came to find that her people had been destroyed by Angels. She was about to be killed herself when Alexiel arrived and saved her life. Though Kurai appears to be nothing more than a small child, she is intelligent and has been around for many years. She seeks Alexiel in Assiah, and at first finds it very difficult to believe that Alexiel exists within Setsuna's body. However, after some time she realizes that Setsuna is Alexiel, and it is then that she devotes herself to helping him. Kurai and Arakune get Alexiel's body from Heaven in the very beginning of the series, and bring her to Hell. Kurai lives with those who are left of her people after the massacre. The Mad Hatter tried and succeeded in getting Kurai to agree to marry Lucifer in return for Setsuna's body's revival. It was, however, a trick, which Kurai soon found out, and she was rescued from hell by Setsuna and Noise, who had gone there to find her after they found out what she had agreed to. She took responsibility for Arakune's death when she arrived, and swore to help her nation fight the Angel Army in Heaven. |

Mad Hatter: The Mad Hatter is definitely the strangest character I know of in Angel Sanctuary thus far. S/he delivers messages from another entity, and often follows Kurai around - even asks her/him if she'll marry Lucifer, the high lord of hell. S/he is in love with Lucifer, and s/he lies - a lot. S/he can't be trusted. The Mad Hatter isn't really a man or a woman, and chooses to be recognized as nether. The name Lucifer (god?) gave her is Belial, which means 'worthless' and she does her best to be the most useful worthless being she can. S/he wants to please Lucifer and therefore will do her best to make Setsuna a lost and wandering soul. The Mad Hatter was meant to be female, but was never fully developed, and is one of God's mistakes. The Mad Hatter is saved by Asmodeus after Arakune stabs him/her straight through, but doesn't truly want to live. Nidhog: A dragon-like demon in hell who acts as Uriel's steed, Nidhog chooses to bring Setsuna back to gehenna. He gives Setsuna a mission, to find a girl he once loved when he was an Angel in heaven, and to give her a message. That girl's name was "Layla". Layla's records in heaven were erased, and her body was being experimented on by Sevi's scientists. Arakune: Kurai's 'cousin', a demon of Gehenna. Arakune is a crossdresser, and would much prefer to wear a woman's clothes than a man's. He seems to be very close to Kurai, and acts like a protector for her. Where you find Kurai, you almost always find Arakune. However, this is an act. Arakune is actually one of Kurai's older brothers, the third son, and he's bent on getting revenge. He grew up believing that he was to become the next Dragonmaster, and he grew up in solitude, told that this was happening because otherwise he would be an easy target for assassins. He was often ignored by his parents, and this hurt him a lot, mentally and emotionally. After an attack by Angels, Arakune finds out that he actually wasn't supposed to become the next Dragonmaster, it was all a ploy to trick the angels, and the 14th daughter, Kurai, was supposed to be the next Dragonmaster. Enraged, Arakune 'died' and killed the son of one of Kurai's aunts or uncles and took his name - the real Arakune, her cousin, died. Arakune acted as a spy for the angels, and called them upon the kingdom. It was his fault that many of Kurai's family members died. Arakune's real purpose was first discovered by Voice, but Arakune killed him to avoid being found out. Arakune later "died" by Noise's hand, as revenge for the death of her twin brother. He worshipped Lucifer instead of the dragons like most of the Evils, and he died still seeming to care for Kurai - not in the fake way he always had, but as the companion to Kurai that he had been. He reappeared and stabbed the Mad Hatter through the abdomen, then released the monster inside of him that had given him his powers. He sacrificed himself as the 999th bride of lucifer, because he reasoned that the bride only had to be pure - not necessarily a woman. He died after confessing to Kurai that at first he had merely meant to get revenge, but eventually had grown happy in his fake life, and he wished it had really been so. Lucifer: High Lord of Hell. Has had 998 "brides", also known has sacrifices. Kurai was supposed to be his 999th, but Arakune sacrificed himself in her place in order to keep Hell whole. Lucifer has no real incarnation in hell, for he is the ground itself. Kira, however, is Lucifer's soul, and it was said by Alexiel that soon he would awaken as Lucifer and stand in Setsuna's way. Was called "Lucifel" when he lived in Heaven. Voice: The twin brother of Noise, Voice only has one wing (whereas Noise has the other wing). He is in love with Kurai, and can't seem to see why Kurai is so obsessed with Setsuna. He's also a vampire. Voice hated Setsuna at first - he wanted nothing to do with him, even though he had the body of Alexiel, the Angel who had rebelled against God. He believed that even though Alexiel had betrayed God, she was still an Angel and Setsuna was still a human. He held a lot of prejudices, until he realized that Setsuna really wielded the power of messiah. Voice lost one of his arms protecting Setsuna from the Angel of Fire, Michael. He almost died saved Setsuna's life. Setsuna brought him back to hell in a hurry, and managed to save Voice. He also got another arm. Voice does everything he can to protect Setsuna, because he doesn't want to see the princess cry. Voice dies by Arakune's hand when he's out looking for Kurai and he stumbles upon Arakune's shrine to the dark lord. Noise: The twin sister of Voice, Noise only has one wing (whereas Voice has the other wing). She's a vampire as well, and for some time was possessed by a demon, courtesy of the Mad Hatter. After Voice's death, Noise cut off all her hair (so she looked like Voice afterward) and, suspicious of Arakune, asked Setsuna if she could go with them when they went to go find Kurai in the lower reaches of Hell. She was injured in hell, but that didn't stop her from finally getting her revenge against Arakune. Enra ou: An entity in Hell. He keeps everyone who is in hell exactly where they are, and was undefeated until he went up against Setsuna and Katou's combined power. Enra ou had been using Katou in order to kill Setsuna, but his attempts all failed. Doll: A creation of Uriel, Doll works solely for him and is in love with him. |
